I recently saw the PBS episode of Craft in America- Landscape. One of the artists mentioned in passing that they were inspired by an artist who often painted women with long, flowing hair. They showed an example of that inspirational artist’s work and it was beautiful. What is the name of the artist of the painting?

I need to do a project where you talk about an artist that is authentic in a genre, and an artist that is not. Ideas for places to find information would be great too. Any suggestions?

I usually only have like 1-3 songs by the same artist on my playlist. The most I have by one artist is about 15 OneRepublic songs. I was just looking through someone else’s iTunes playlist and noticed he had at least 20-something songs from one artist and then another batch of 20 by another artist, and so on!

So I was wondering if many other people usually listen to songs by many different artists, or if they listen to many songs by a few artists?

Over the past 3 years I’ve been contemplating becoming a makeup artist. I have an extensive collection of makeup (all MAC). I’ve done makeup on friends and obviously on myself. The only MAC counter we have here is in Nordstrom and you have to do this one hour application that doesn’t ask anything about my skills as an artist, just dumb “if you saw someone stealing would you;” questions. Anyone here a current or former MAC artist? How do I get into working at that counter? Is school really necessary? Any help would be awesome.

For example, if I sync an Eminem album to my iPod, under the artist list it will show something like this:

    Eminem
    Eminem/Obie Trice
    Eminem/Steve Berman

I want the Eminem/Obie Trice and the Eminem/Steve Berman onto JUST the Eminem artist category.

I tried dragging the albums onto each other on iTunes to combine the songs, but it doesn’t work.

So how do I do this?

    Thank you.

I want to become a certified tattoo artist. I’m wondering what are the best steps to take? I was wondering if just taking a few art and drawing classes would be good enough. What should I do to become better at tattooing. Any tips? Thank you.

I’m 13. My dream career is to be an artist. I work with clay, paint, sketching, drawing, poetry, and photography. I’m wondering what are the requirements to be a professional artist. What I would have to go through. Any certain degrees or anything I must obtain? I’m not sure. It is my dream to become an artist!

I’m doing an interior design project and the artist I have chosen is american installation artist Tara Donovan. I’m designing a space for her and it would really help if I could talk to her. I’ve been looking everywhere on the internet for her contact but can’t find anything. Any suggestions?

In my art class we have to pick an artist and follow his style in a piece of art. My teacher is really confining my classes creativity. I want to pick an artist that expresses the lack of creativity or how people now aren’t as creative and try to follow each other and don’t try to be unique or stand out differently. Is there any artist that portrays these ideas or anything like them at all?

I am suspecting formative artist is a clunky translation from Arabic to English. If I am wrong, please let me know if it is used in the UK or USA. I’d just say artist or painter. Painter, even, would not exclude any other artistic experiments. So, I prefer a general term.

I need a makeup artist to come on-site and apply my makeup. The salon I go to charges $40, but they do not go on location. I asked the girls at MAC and she charges $100 for the bride and $75 for others. Is that a rip off?

I’m curious, to experienced martial artists do punches feel as if they’re being thrown in slow motion when they are thrown from an untrained fighter? Just how easily could an experienced martial artist dodge a punch from an untrained fighter? Or would it still be harder than you would expect?

I would like to get bod art fixed up and added onto. I would like quality. And an artist that is willing to help me create what I want.
I am in the Vancouver area and would like the work done by the end of the summer.
I am really busy and move around alot due to my job, so if the artist could be reached by phone and email that would be great too. Or any web sites that could get me going.

    Video Scenario:
    1. Slideshow of my own photos attuned to a song by a well-known musical artist
    2. I give credit to the musical artist by putting the artist’s name and song title in the video title and in the video description

Is crediting the musical artist enough to avoid copyright infringement? Or do I also need to give credit to the song writer, recording studio, etc. ?

People think a unsigned rapper is considered a artist which I don’t think is true. A Artist is more of business and serious about music. Tell me what’s the difference.

What sort of characteristics do you believe would properly describe an artists and a writer as opposed to an everyday person?

I know this seems like a silly question, and yes choosing to use a few words to describe an artist and a write would be stereotyping an artist and writer, but it also interesting to see how people perceive them.

You often hear of people perceiving artists and writers being generally different from everyone else. They see the world differently. That is how we get the stereotype of artists and writers being eccentric. But with this mind, by accepting this this causes worry for the artist and writer because what if an artist or a writer finds themselves not fitting into that eccentric stereotype. “I don’t see the world any differently then you do, so does that mean that I am NOT an aritst?” he or she would say.

So this got me thinking. If you could choose any set of characteristics for an artist or writer what would they be? Imagine that your are attempting to design the quintessential artist/writer.

I’m thinking about getting certified as a makeup artist. I would like to do theater makeup/free lancing for events.

Is anyone on here a makeup artist? I’ve been searching for jobs on the bigger job search engine sites, but not really finding anything, makes me wonder if it’s wise to pursue as a career.

Looking for a 3D artist to do research on for class. Someone recommended me an artist who built a small island, used small units, and wore a dress for a year (not Alex Martin). She lives in Chelsea, New York. Does anyone know the name of this artist?

Or can recommend any other 3D artists (not digital art, but with physical materials in their work)?

    Thanks in advance.

I know some artists (Tom Waits and Tom Petty for example) won’t allow their songs to be used in commercials, and while I don’t necessarily disagree with them, I have discovered some good artist through commercials (how many people really listened to Nick Drake before that VW commercial?)

My friend is designing a tattoo for my forearm. But he’s not a tattoo artist so obviously he can’t put it on me himself. How can I make sure that the tattoo artist will get the design right? I don’t suppose there’s a way they could trace it . . .
If the artist can trace it, does my friend need to draw it on a special kind of paper?

I’m going to a gallery that’s having an artist reception this Thursday in Chelsea. I’ve never been to a gallery reception and I was wondering what you usually do when you’re there. Do people usually go up to the artists and talk casually about their works? Do the artists give a talk in the beginning and do people get a chance to ask them questions during this time?

I really want to be a tattoo artist when I get out of college, but my mom says that college isn’t necessary for that job and I only need an apprenticeship, which isn’t worth that time and/or money. I want to own my own parlor one day as well, but would that kind of education be covered in an apprenticeship?

I’m red all the time, whether its hot or cold, i’m still red and it knocks my confidence down so much!
We have prom soon and I just want one night where I can look nice without my constant red face and I was wondering if there was any way to get rid. I’ve started wearing sun lotion every day and I also moisturise but it doesn’t do anything whatsoever.
I was thinking of a professional make up artist but I don’t know if it would work, plus it would be expensive.
    Any ideas? :/

So I have some political photomontages that have the potential to be very popular. I’ve discussed it with the art directors in my school, who each have their work shown in popular galleries in Chelsea, NYC and LA. They’re no joke in the art world, apparently. I’ve been being told over and over and over again to get it shown somewhere, but I’ve no idea how or where to get started.

I do know that I need to have a very good artist statement, with a max of 300 words. I also need to find the right size and what I’m
printing on. I’ve already decided that matte fits the work very well, but I don’t know what size to print. Should I go big or very small at 8×10? What size would be appropriate?

They also tell me that putting it on tumblr would be a good idea, but there’s always the chance that it could be stolen or copied. So they tell me to watermark it. But anyone creative would be able to remove it if they were good at photoshop, or even recreate it if they were that good. So I don’t know if I’d be putting it on the internet. Should I?

How would I go about getting in contact with a gallery? How do I send them my work, and would I have to pay, etc etc. Is there a certain amount of money I need before I even try to begin? Please walk me through this. Best detailed answer wins.
